The day 2 activity involved matching a flag to the name of a country or state – today’s activity challenges your student to match the SHAPE of each of the world’s six largest countries (by land mass) to its name!
This will be easy for students of Knowable World Level 1: History Detectives! They begin the study of world geography by learning to recognize the six biggest countries. By the end of the level they will know those plus another six! This helps them become familiar with the world map and makes it easy to find any country or feature by reference to something they know.
Learning to recognize and name these complex shapes is a rewarding challenge for young kids. Having real knowledge that they can use and even show off any time they see a map or globe is doubly rewarding!
