Upcoming Free Live History Classes

Free live classes will be offered periodically throughout the year, usually at least once or twice a month.

See below for a list of topics and times, and click on the link to register your student. Once you’ve registered, you’ll be on the list to receive an email with access information a day or so before the class begins.

Each class offers a bite-sized introduction to a popular topic, tailored for elementary students (approximately grades 3-7, but younger and older students are welcome to join if interested).

Introduction to Ancient Egypt

When we think about the ancient world, little is more mysterious and fascinating than ancient Egypt. Who were the pyramid builders?  How did they live, and why did they disappear?  This introduction will answer students’ basic questions about Egypt and help them see how it fits in world history.

Introduction to American History

The United States is the most important country in the world today.  How did that come to be?  This introduction to American history will look at America’s humble beginnings as a set of British colonies and show how it grew into the most powerful and influential country in the world.

Introduction to Chinese History

China is one of the world’s most important countries. Indeed, it seems like almost everything is “Made in China.”  This introduction will show how, after thousands of years of being the “Middle Kingdom” of East Asia, China has adapted to the modern world.

Introduction to Europe and Russia

Europe and Russia are again at war!  Will it ever stop?  This introduction to European history will show how Europe’s different nations have struggled to live in peace, and why they formed the European Union—but also why Russia is on the outside to this day.

Introduction to Ancient Greece and Rome

Why is the world the way it is?  Neither America, nor Europe, nor much of the rest of the world would be the way it is without relying on the amazing cultures of ancient Greece and Rome.  This class will introduce students to these ancient cultures that still matter so much today.

Meet the Teacher
